You would think Americans were too busy preparing Thanksgiving dinners to care what First Lady Melania Trump is wearing, but apparently not.
The First Lady wore a beautiful $9,400 Christian Dior coat to watch her husband, President Donald Trump, pardon two turkeys, named Peas and Carrots, during the annual Thanksgiving turkey pardoning tradition at the White House on Tuesday.
The White House turkey pardoning ceremony is a humorous and lighthearted event. But as usual, people found something to complain about.
The 48-year-old mom-of-one accessorized her fashionable coat with a black top and pants and a pair of black suede Christian Louboutin boots that also prompted outrage from the peanut gallery.
Some fashion critics loved the coat but they complained that Melania was too formal and loud for the occasion.
One Twitter user even went so far as to complain that Melania looked like a turkey.
The user tweeted: “How nice of Melania to dress up like the guest of honour.”
Harper’s Bazaar compared Melania’s fashion sense to former First Lady Michelle Obama, suggesting that Michelle’s fashion choices were more economical:
“Conversely, previous First Lady Michelle Obama made a note to incorporate plenty of American labels into her wardrobe, as well as affordable garments from the likes of GAP and J.Crew.”
Melania’s outfit was hand-picked by her famed stylist, Herve Pierre.
