Breana Rouhselang, Aaron Trejo

A 16-year-old high school football player is in police custody after he fatally stabbed his cheerleader girlfriend who told him she was pregnant with his child.

Police say Aaron Trejo, 16, of Mishawaka, stabbed 17-year-old Breana Rouhselang to death after she refused to abort her unborn baby.

Her body was found stuffed in a trash bag and thrown in a dumpster behind a restaurant near her home, according to the NY Post.

Police arrested Trejo on Sunday and charged him with one count of murder and one count of feticide for Killing her unborn baby. An autopsy confirmed Rouhselang was six months pregnant when she died.

The cheerleader at Mishawaka High School was also the football team’s manager.

Rouhselang’s mom called the police to report her daughter missing at 1 a.m. Sunday.

Trejo changed his story after initially telling police he arranged to meet with Rouhselang in the alley behind her house, but she never showed up.

Investigators searched the alley and found glasses and a bloody stocking cap. Police expanded the search area and eventually found Rouhselang’s body in the dumpster nearby.

During an interrogation, Trejo confessed to the murder, saying, “I took action. I took her life,” after admitting he thought about killing her a week earlier when she told him she was pregnant.

Trejo said he strangled Rouhselang and stabbed her through the heart with a kitchen knife from his home.

Trejo will be tried as an adult. He faces a maximum of 65 years in prison if found guilty on both charges.
