Singer Ciara Wilson made history during the Monday Night Football game, but you couldn’t tell by the response of some sports journalists.
Ciara, who is the wife of Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, thrilled football fans with a high energy halftime performance during the Seahawks vs Minnesota Vikings NFL game on Monday.
The 33-year-old mother-of-two wore a custom white jersey with her husband’s number, as she lip-synced her current single “Level Up” with two dozen similarly dressed backup dancers.
Ciara’s halftime performance left many sports writers scratching their heads and wondering if Russell pulled some strings to make it happen.
“I’m confident it has to be the first time in NFL history the quarterback’s wife was the performance for a primetime game,” wrote The Daily Caller reporter David Hookstead. He added: “I can’t remember that ever happening in the history of the league.”
Other sports writers questioned Ciara’s halftime performance, which probably cost as much as Super Bowl halftime performances.
One writer tweeted that the team wasted valuable commercial airtime worth millions of dollars so Ciara could stroke her ego. The tweet has since been deleted.
Another Twitter users noted that Ciara is not content to be a Seattle homemaker and let her husband shine in his own field.
