Actor Terry Crews apologized again for saying children of same-sex parents were “malnourished” because they didn’t have a mother and father in the home.
Crews sparked furor on social media when he tweeted that children need “paternal AND maternal love” like “vitamins and minerals to humanity.”
He added: “No matter where you get that paternal and maternal love. My purpose is to give paternal love.”
A follower reacted to his tweet on March 1, saying, “love is not gendered. A child will not starve with only one gender loving them.”
Crews responded in all caps, “BUT THEY WILL BE SEVERELY MALNOURISHED.”
Crews later apologized to same-sex parents, tweeting:
“I apologize to anyone who was hurt by my ‘severely malnourished’ tweet. It was in response to someone who said kids wouldn’t ‘starve.’ It was poorly worded so I deleted it.”
A recent study found that children (now adults) raised in same-sex households had twice the risk of depression than children raised in heterosexual 2-parent households.
