Former blogger Karen Civil accused former NFL star Reggie Bush of trying to exploit deceased rapper Nipsey Hussle without his fiancee Lauren London’s permission.
Nipsey, 33, was gunned down outside his clothing store on March 31. He was buried on Friday during a private ceremony at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in South Los Angeles.
Reggie raised eyebrows when he created a GoFundMe account with the goal of raising $100,000 for Nipsey’s two children Emani, 12, and Kross, 2.
He asked Twitter followers to donate money that would go directly into a fund for the two children.
But Nipsey’s children are well taken care of, so Reggie’s actions raised eyebrows.
Karen, who was Nipsey’s business partner, tweeted Reggie ordering him to remove his post after he refused her private request to remove it.
“Please remove this tweet as this was privately asked of you already. The family nor Lauren requested this and you did it anyway,” she tweeted on Saturday.
In a follow-up tweet, she wrote:
“No disrespect to Reggie Bush but Nipsey Life Partner nor his family asked for this to be done when he originally requested. Appreciate, everyone wanting to find ways to support Nip but his foundation for community efforts will be launched soon.”
Reggie denied Karen’s accusations in a Twitter response:
“Wait what??? Nah that’s actually INCORRECT check your facts what would I gain from this @KarenCivil ? And this is the very last time I will speak on it out of RESPECT for everyone! God Bless you!”
Karen replied:
“I never spoke on what you had to gain, Simply asked you to remove the tweet, just like you did the gofundme. You asked prior to do this and was told no by family, but did it anyway. You never once spoke to Nip in the gym the many times you saw each other…
I understand you’re motivated and want to help, but there are other ways. His family already asked you NOT to do this. People are literally grieving over a husband, father, brother, uncle, friend and someone who meant so much too [sic] so many people. This is not the time for this.”
