GRAMMY Award-winning global superstar Ciara released her highly anticipated seventh studio album, Beauty Marks on Friday, May 10. On the title track off the emotional album – which is already No. 1 in New Zealand – Ciara opens up about the scars and bruises she collected while dating losers and emotionally unavailable men.

She also praises her husband Russell Wilson, the NFL’s richest player, for rescuing her from a life of shame and scorn.

    Oh, what a feeling
To wake up everyday knowing I am loved by you
    I can’t believe it
What did I do to deserve someone to hold me like you?
‘Cause you take me as I am
And I take you as you are
With your heart in weathered hands
And the bruises on my heart
They make me who I am
They make you who you are
Baby, when you take my hand
You show me that my scars are beauty marks

The accompanying music video for the project’s title track showcases never-before-seen home footage from her wedding ceremony to Russell Wilson in 2016. Fans also get an exclusive peek inside the delivery room as Ciara shares the sweet moments behind-the-scenes of birthing her daughter, Sienna, and the first moments her son Future meets his baby sister.

The project was preceded by the promo singles “Level Up” which recently received Gold certification through the RIAA.

In a press release, Ciara said her “driving force behind this album was to inspire, inject love and make the world dance, Beauty Marks flawlessly accomplishes all three with songs that capture the human spirit’s range and diversity.”

“My mantra throughout the process of recording this album was about reminding myself that the scars you get from going through life are actually your beauty marks. Adversity ends up giving you wisdom and character, and persevering through all those challenges makes you so much stronger. This album is about celebrating the journey that leads you to those Beauty Mark moments.”
