Cardi B released her sexually charged music video for her single “Press” earlier today. The music video has all the elements of today’s hip-hop: sex, nudity, violence, and the obligatory perp walk into court.
Directed by Jora Frantzis, the video opens with Cardi hungrily kissing another woman. Afterwards, she smokes a cigarette, pulls out a Glock and lights the room up as a woman screams.
Then there’s a wild scene as her fans clash with police outside the courtroom where Cardi is on trial for murder. Later, the Bronx rapper leads a pack of naked women through the streets, ranting about too much press coverage of her ratchet behavior.
“Press, press, press, press, press/ Cardi don’t need more press,” she raps.
She also complains about jealousy and envy from other women who are pressed (mad) that she’s so real.
While the single was generally well received by music critics and her fans, it peaked at No. 16 on the Billboard Rhythmic chart and No. 6 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
