Swedish officials have dropped charges against one of the Afghan migrants involved in a street fight with rapper A$AP Rocky that resulted in the arrests of the rapper and 3 members of his entourage.
Page Six reports the Swedish Prosecution Authority has dropped counter charges against the man who was seen on video hitting Rocky’s bodyguard with a pair of headphones.
Authorities investigated – but never arrested – the migrant after Rocky’s bodyguard pressed counter charges. Investigators looked into the charges but found no evidence to arrest the man.
“The preliminary investigation in that matter is now discontinued and the injured party is no longer suspected of any crime,” the Swedish Prosecution Authority said in a press release Monday, July 22.
Senior Public Prosecutor Daniel Suneson, who is in charge of the investigation, said the man hit the bodyguard only after he was assaulted first.
“In this situation, the person throws his headphones on the notifier, and tries to hand out battles, which may be considered as right to self-defense,” he said.
Rocky, 30, and two members of his entourage, including his bodyguard, remained behind bars after a judge on Friday ruled they will be detained in jail at least until a hearing on July 25.
In related news, rapper Cardi B says, although she supports Rocky and wants him to be released, she will not cancel an upcoming concert in Sweden.
