A nurse strangled his doctor girlfriend for allegedly infecting him with the Wuhan coronavirus that causes Covid-19.
Lorena Quaranta, 27, was found dead after her boyfriend, nurse Antonio De Pace, 28, called cops to say he just killed her for giving him the “killer bug” coronavirus.
Cops burst into the apartment and found De Pace on the floor bleeding from cuts on his wrists from an apparent suicide attempt. Dr. Quaranta was found murdered.
De Pace told investigators: “I killed her because she gave me coronavirus.” A police source told The Sun: “She was a doctor who was working hard to save others. It’s such a tragedy.”
According to The Sun tabloid, the couple worked at the same medical facility in Sicily, Italy. Dr. Quaranta had been working in direct contact with coronavirus patients.
It isn’t clear if Quaranta or De Pace were diagnosed with coronavirus. Investigators are awaiting results of tests on both.
41 doctors have died during the coronavirus outbreak in Italy. 12,000 people in Italy are confirmed dead from the virus.
