Beyonce honored her bestie and “Savage” collaborator Megan Thee Stallion‘s late mom on Sunday, May 30, – after the rapper shared a heartfelt post on what would have been her mom’s birthday.
The “Hot Girl Summer” rapper’s mother, Holly Thomas, died in March, 2019, after battling a brain tumor.
In an emotional post on Instagram, the aspiring rapper posted a mother and daughter portrait from when Megan was a baby. She captioned the image: “Happy birthday mama I miss you everyday!
“I know you’re watching over me rooting for me and keeping me going. I don’t have you physically here telling me what I should do so I’ve been trying to figure it out on my own remembering all the advice and lessons you’ve taught me before. You are such a strong woman and I promise to make you proud and be one too! We love you Holly.”
After sharing the post, Beyonce, who has formed an unusually close bond with the rumored lesbian rapper, also paid tribute to Holly.
Sharing the same photo on her website, the mother-of-three simply wrote: “Honoring Holly.”
The rap music star recently confessed she’s determined to finish school “for the women who made me who I am today.”
She told PEOPLE: “I want to get my degree because I really want my mom to be proud. She saw me going to school before she passed… My grandmother that’s still alive used to be a teacher, so she’s on my butt about finishing school. I’m doing it for me, but I’m also doing it for the women in my family who made me who I am today.”
The 2 besties donated all the proceeds from their “Savage” remix to benefit charities supporting healthcare workers in the stars’ native Houston, Texas.
