The Fulton County coroner’s office, where autopsy’s are performed in Atlanta, has denied leaking graphic photos of slain rapper King Von.
Von, real name Dayvon Bennett, 26, was shot outside a nightclub in downtown Atlanta on Nov. 6. He was taken by private vehicle to Grady Hospital where he died.
Days later, his autopsy photos were posted on social media, prompting Von’s associates to blame the coroner’s office for the leak.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office released a statement on its website on Nov. 10 denying allegations that they leaked (or sold) the grisly photos of the Chicago gangster-turned rapper laying on an autopsy table.
In so many words, the Fulton County ME put the blame for the leak on the funeral home that picked up the body from the coroner’s office.
“On November 6, 2020, the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy of D. Bennett, age 26, who died. On November 10, the Medical Examiner’s Office was contacted regarding photographs of Mr. Bennett’s body that had been released to online outlets.
“After an internal investigation, the Medical Examiner’s office is confident that those photos were taken after the time Mr. Bennett’s body was released by the Medical Examiner’s office.”
