Former Chicago Bears star Michael Richardson has been arrested in connection with a shooting death in Phoenix.

The former Arizona State standout was arrested Wednesday and booked into the county jail in connection with the murder of 47-year-old Ronald Like. Phoenix police say Richardson, 59, shot Like on Tuesday near 40th and Van Buren Street.

Richardson rapped in the Bears’ “Super Bowl Shuffle” music video. “I’m LA Mike and I play it cool. They don’t sneak by me because I’m no fool,” Richardson rapped.

Richardson was arrested twice in 2020 for drug possession. He was also arrested in 2018 in Maricopa County on drug possession and theft charges.

He has been convicted of more than 20 crimes since 2008.

Richardson is being held without bail. He is charged with murder, misconduct involving weapons, and a felony warrant, according to ABC15.
