Two brothers were shot dead as they sat in a vehicle parked in the driveway of their Fresno, Texas, home, authorities say.
Jonathan Massey, 17, and Devin Massey, 15, were shot dead in a vehicle, according to the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office.
A third teen who was injured in the shooting was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Witnesses say a group of masked suspects in a car approached the three victims and opened fire. There was an exchange of gunfire at the scene before the suspects fled.
One person was detained at the scene and later released without charges.
“This was just a random act of violence,” family friend Rebekah Foley told ABC13. “They had no chance.”
Foley said both Jonathan and Devin, who were good friends with her son, were at her house just two hours before the deadly shooting.
“Our children were randomly murdered last night and we would like to ask for prayers and justice,” the family said in a statement to KPRC-TV on Sunday.
“It is beyond senseless and cruel to kill our babies under any circumstances. Even more so without rhyme or reason. God is head of our family and Jojo and Devin are now walking streets of gold and wearing wings over us left behind. As parents, we ask for any leads big or small.”
