A 14-year-old Michigan girl reportedly stabbed her grandmother to death before fleeing 25 miles away to a motel with her boyfriend on Saturday.
Cynthia Mosby’s son called 911 around 7 a.m. when he found his mother unresponsive on a bedroom floor.
Mosby, of Canton Township, was her granddaughter’s sole guardian, according to her son.
Police say Mosby, 65, was stabbed multiple times by the girl whose name was not released, according to the Detroit News.
The teenager was found at a motel with a young man about 25 miles away in Southgate. The male was not charged.
The girl is being held at the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility in Detroit, Wayne County.
A judge will determine whether to charge the girl as a juvenile or adult. If she is charged as an adult offender she will be transferred to an adult jail to await trial.
