Londre Sylvester’s killers were waiting for him when he walked out of the Cook County Jail in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday.
The aspiring rapper, known as KTS Dre, was fatally shot by multiple gunmen who followed him as he walked to his car, NBC Chicago reported.
The coroner counted at least 64 bullet wounds to the 31-year-old rapper’s head, torso, arms and legs.
His brazen murder outside the jail made headlines globally.
Sylvester is the latest rapper to lose his life to gang violence in Chicago. He was one of 40 people shot in Chicago over the weekend.
A 60-year-old woman who was walking with him at the time was shot in the knee. She is reportedly listed in good condition at Stroger Hospital. A 30-year-old female bystander was grazed in her mouth, and is also listed in good condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, per Fox 32 News.
Sylvester was out on bail on charges related to his April 2020 arrest for being a felon in possession of a weapon and resisting police. He was fitted with an ankle monitor prior to being released.
He was killed days after West Coast rapper Indian Red Boy, born Dijon Rivera, was fatally shot as he sat in his car behind a Hawthorne, Los Angeles apartment complex.
He was shot 12 times and his murder was captured on Instagram Live.
Rumors suggest Rivera was killed in retaliation for vandalizing a mural of the late West Coast rapper Nipsey Hussle.
