Disturbing new details have emerged in the brutal stabbing death of a 40-year-old Atlanta woman.

Katherine “Katie” Janness was brutally stabbed and dismembered inside Piedmont Park while walking her dog Bowie Tuesday evening.

Police say Janness died from multiple stab wounds and parts of her body were missing from the “gruesome” crime scene.

According to a Channel 2 Action News reporter, a homophobic slur was scrawled on Janness’ body.

Atlanta police have denied the reporter’s claim that the information came from a confidential police source.

Still, the FBI is investigating the case as a possible federal hate crime against a member of the LGBT+ community.

Janness’ family is “distraught” over the disturbing new details.

A GoFundMe page raised over $61,000 in donations for Janness’ funeral.

Police are not ruling out a serial killer on the loose in Atlanta.

Janness was the second woman killed in Atlanta area parks in 24 hours.
