Bridgetown, BARBADOS – Barbados has declared singer Rihanna a national hero during its republican celebrations in Bridgetown.
A 21-gun salute was fired just after midnight when the nation officially became a republic, marking a new chapter in the nation’s history.
The country’s prime minister, Mia Mottley, said, ‘On behalf of a grateful nation, but an even prouder people, we, therefore, present to you, the designee, for the national hero of Barbados, ambassador Robyn Rihanna Fenty may you continue to shine like a diamond.’
The ceremony was part of celebrations as Barbados became the world’s newest republic. Rihanna stunned in a Bottega Veneta tasseled halter gown a Manolo Blahnik Leva sandals and Briony Raymond Old Euro sloan ring.
