A toxicology report released on Monday found party drugs ketamine and norketamine in Dwayne Haskins’ system after he was struck and killed on a Florida highway on April 9.
The Broward County Medical Examiner’s report also showed the Pittsburgh Steeler quarterback had a high blood alcohol content that was 2.5 times the normal limit.
Haskins was in Florida attending a Steelers’ training camp.
Police spoke with an inebriated woman who was a passenger in Haskins’ car. The passenger told officers Haskins left the car to go get gas.
Haskins was seen walking into the roadway and behaving erratically. One driver told police that other cars and truck swerved to avoid hitting him.
Haskins’ wife, Kalabrya, issued a statement though a rep after the autopsy findings swept the Internet on Monday.
“On behalf of Dwayne’s wife, his family, and his memory, and on behalf of the truth, we respectfully request and pray for privacy, for patience, and for the public to withhold any judgment during this period while the law enforcement authorities continue to investigate and conduct their important work.”
Kalabrya previously told police she was on the phone with Haskins when he was struck by a dump truck.
She told a 911 dispatcher she was concerned when he didn’t call her back and her calls went unanswered.
The drunk passenger in Haskin’s car was not identified.
