Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was hospitalized on Wednesday after falling in a hotel, his office announced.
The Republican Party leader from Kentucky had attended a private dinner when he “tripped and fell” at a swanky hotel in Washington, D.C.
McConnell attended a reception and dinner at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel and hosted a separate dinner afterward in the hotel for the largest donors to his super PAC (political action committee).
At 81, McConnell is the 4th oldest current U.S. Senator. The average age of current U.S. senators is 65.
McConnell, pictured with Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi in 2019, is prone to accidents. In 2019, he suffered a shoulder fracture when he tripped and fell outside on a patio at his home in Kentucky.
Democrat Dianne Feinstein, the eldest U.S. Senator at 89, was treated for shingles at a D.C. hospital last week. According to reports, she is suffering from dementia and may be forced to retire.
Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman, 53, who suffered a stroke in 2022, was recently hospitalized for “clinical depression.”
Fetterman’s wife took their children and fled to Canada amid rumors that the Democratic senator is brain dead.
