Jonathan Majors made his first court appearance on Tuesday to face charges in the assault of his ex-girlfriend in NYC.

“Extra’s” cameras were rolling as Majors arrived at Manhattan Criminal courthouse Tuesday with actress Meagan Good by his side. They held hands as they entered the courtroom. Majors did not respond to questions shouted by an Extra TV reporter.

According to Extra TV, a woman named Grace Jabbari accused Majors of twisting her arm, striking her head, and shoving her into a taxi cab on their way home from a bar in Brooklyn on March 25.

Majors’ attorney Priya Chaudhry called the allegations “false” and said she delivered more evidence to the district attorney last week.

“We strongly requested the District Attorney dismiss all charges against Mr. Majors immediately,” she said in a statement on Tuesday. “While we are hopeful that the District Attorney is reviewing these materials in good faith and will do the right thing soon, to accelerate our case, we’ve requested a trial date ASAP.”

Judge Rachel S. Pauley set a trial date for August 3 and ordered Majors to continue complying with the court’s order of protection for the alleged victim.

Chaudhry said the 30-year-old victim launched a “frenzied attack” on Majors when she caught him texting another woman. Chaudhry said that he was running away from Jabbari. The new evidence includes photos showing injuries that Majors sustained and his torn clothing as a result of Jabbari’s “violent actions.”

It isn’t clear if Majors was texting Meagan Good that night.

A source told PEOPLE their longterm friendship turned romantic when Majors’ career was canceled overnight, and he was a broken man.

“Meagan has shown considerable support towards him,” the source said in May. “It seems their relationship has developed further from that point.”
