Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis was forced to announce indictments against former President Donald Trump on Monday night instead of Tuesday.
The indictments were hastily announced last night after someone leaked the charges on Monday, Aug. 14.
The document, obtained by Reuters, was published on the Fulton County Courthouse website. Trump’s name appeared alongside dozens of felony crimes despite no grand jury vote.
Fulton County officials told reporters no charges had been filed.
“The Reuters report that those charges were filed is inaccurate. Beyond that we cannot comment,” a spokesperson for the District Attorney’s Office said on Monday.
The document was quickly snatched off the court’s website, but the damage had already been done.
The same person(s) also leaked the unredacted names of all 26 grand jurors. Their names were all over social media on Monday.
The Fulton County Clerk’s Office called the leaked document “fictitious” – even though the charges were the same as the actual indictment that was announced hours later.
Attorney and former law professor Alan Dershowitz said of the leaked documents, “The fact that it was a grand jury indictment means nothing. It’s the prosecutor who indicted. The best evidence of that is that it was on [her] website before the grand jury even voted.”
Willis was forced to call the grand jury in on Monday evening — instead of Tuesday — to vote on charges that had already been published publicly.

An exhausted Willis stood before news cameras at midnight to announce RICO indictments against Trump after most Georgians had already gone to bed.
She looked a bit flustered when a Fox News reporter asked her about the leaked document.
Willis’ supporters are complaining of an inside job. They say the courthouse leaker (or leakers) are Trump supporters attempting to sabotage the D.A.’s case.
Trump will likely use the leaked document in his appeal for malicious prosecution.
The former president has now been hit with a total of 91 criminal charges in 4 indictments in four blue jurisdictions over the past 5 months.
All charges were brought by Democrat prosecutors who hope to convict President Biden’s main political opponent before the 2024 elections.
Trump leads Biden by double digits in nearly all polls.
In addition to Trump, 18 co-conspirators, including former mayor of NYC Rudy Giuliani, are charged with meddling in the 2020 elections.
Willis called the team “a criminal enterprise.” Giuliani faces 13 separate felony charges.
Willis gave Trump until Friday, Aug. 18, to turn himself in. The Fulton County Sheriff promised a mugshot that will instantly become the most famous booking photo in history.
Trump is expected to use the mugshot on campaign posters and merchandise including ball caps, t-shirts, coffee mugs, etc.
It’s highly unlikely that a former sitting president will ever see the inside of a prison cell. But that won’t stop the Democrats from filing more indictments leading up to the election.
