Update, Aug. 23, 2023 at 11:53 AM:

Ne-Yo’s baby mama Monyetta Shaw-Carter disagrees with his comments about transgender children switching genders.

The mother of Ne-Yo’s eldest children, Madilyn and Mason, told TMZ he was wrong for criticizing parents who let their kids change genders.

Monyetta, pictured with Mason and Madilyn, told TMZ she stands with the LGBTQ+ community and she’s not bashing her baby’s father, but “Those views are his.”

Ne-Yo apologized last week after criticizing parents for allowing their children to change genders.

In an Instagram Reel, the singer/songwriter said that while he apologizes for offending the LGBT+ community, he’s not backtracking on his opinion about transgender children.

“This is something I feel very strongly on and I need y’all to hear this from the horse’s mouth,” he said in the video.

Ne-Yo pointed out that he is a 43-year-old heterosexual man raising 5 boys and 2 girls and that he’s entitled to feel how he feels. “I ain’t ask nobody to follow me. I ain’t ask nobody to agree with me. I was asked a question and I answered the damn question,” he added.

Ne-Yo said he will never be okay with young children making life-altering decisions.

He said he will educate himself on the subject, but he doubts he is going to change his mind about his opinion.

“If I get canceled for this, then you know what, maybe this is a world where they don’t need a Ne-Yo no more,” he said.
