Lupita Nyong’o announced her split from Selema Masekela on her Instagram Story on Thursday.
“There are much more important things going on in the world right now, and my thoughts are with those who are deeply suffering,” Lupita wrote.
“At this moment, it is necessary for me to share a personal truth and publicly dissociate myself from someone I can no longer trust. I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception.”
She continued: “I am reminded that the magnitude of the pain I am feeling is equal to the measure of my capacity for love. And so, I am choosing to face the pain, cultivating the courage to meet my life exactly as it is, and trusting that this too shall pass.”
She urged her followers to “face our pain so we don’t spread it.”
Lupita was spotted hanging out with newly single actor Joshua Jackson at a Janelle Monáe concert on Wednesday night.
Joshua’s estranged wife Jodie Turner-Smith recently filed for divorce.
Lupita, 40, confirmed her relationship with TV host and sports commentator Selema on Instagram in Dec. 2022. She captioned the post: “We just click! @selema #thisismylove #nuffsaid.”
The Oscar winner was reportedly eager to settle down and raise a family.
She previously dated pop singer Janelle Monáe.
