Protesters in the UK are throwing boxes of painted mice into American-based fast food stores to protest the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.
A viral TikTok video shows a man throwing a box of mice — painted in the colors of the Palestinian flag — into a McDonald’s at Birmingham’s Star City Complex.
The man shouted: “Free Palestine!” as he threw a box of mice at the feet of McDonald’s customers.
The protesters are also targeting Starbucks in the UK for supporting Israel. The video was first uploaded to TikTok by user @Amirroyal_1. His TikTok account has since been deleted.
Another video reportedly shows McDonald’s employees trying to catch the rodents before they made it into the food preparation area.
A UK-based McDonald’s spokesperson issued a statement to reporters:
“We are aware of an incident in our Birmingham Star City restaurant last night. The restaurant has been fully sanitised and our pest control partners have been called out to conduct a full inspection.”
It isn’t clear if the mice protests will spread to the United States.
