Lauryn Hill lashed out at ungrateful concertgoers who complain every time she’s a little late for her concerts. As a living legend, Lauryn has earned the right to show up late or not at all.
Lauryn, 48, is in the midst of touring with the Fugees to celebrate the 25th anniversary of her only album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. The Grammy-winning album debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart in 1998 and remains one of the best-selling albums of all time, according to the RIAA.
On Saturday night, the Fugees star touched down in Los Angeles for her concert at Crypto.com Arena. She showed up fashionably late to her show like she always does.
Lauryn appeared on stage with her family and addressed the crowd who were mumbling about her tardiness.
“Yo, y’all lucky I make it on this blood ras stage every night,” Lauryn told the crowd.
“I don’t do it because they let me do it. I do it because I stand here in the name of God and I do it. God is the one who allows me to do it, who surrounded me with family and community when there was no support. When the album sold so many records and no one showed up and said ‘Hey, would you like to make another one?’ So I went around the world and I played the same album over and over and over and over and over again.”
