Golden State Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojevic died Wednesday after suffering a heart attack at a team dinner in Utah.

He fell ill during a team dinner with Warriors players and coaches at a popular restaurant in Salt Lake City on Tuesday night.

Milojevic was listed in critical condition Tuesday night, but he died Wednesday morning. He was 46.

The team was in Salt Lake City to play the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night.

Milojevic was a 6′-7″ star power forward on the Serbian national team during the ’90s and 2000s. He was also a star player on several European club teams.

After retiring from competition, he coached the Mega Basket team in Serbia from 2012 to 2020, winning the Serbian Cup in 2016.

He mentored a young Nikola Jokic who was 17 years old when he joined the Mega Basket team.

Jokic went on to win an NBA title and 2 league MVP awards with the Denver Nuggets.

Milojevic was hired as an assistant coach for the Warriors in 2021 and won an NBA championship with the team in 2022.
