Rapper Yo Gotti’s older brother Anthony “CMG Big Jook” Mims (right) was killed outside a restaurant and event center in Memphis, Tennessee on Saturday, Jan. 13.
Police say Mims was killed and another man was wounded during a shootout at 6385 Winchester Road around 4:15 p.m.
Witnesses say they heard over 300 shots outside Perignons Restaurant and Event Center.
Mims was reportedly shot 10 times outside a funeral at the event center.
It’s unclear if Mims was at the funeral, but his sister, who goes by Robin Chanel on Instagram, posted “RIP Eric Bovan” in her Instagram Stories.
Mims (left) was transported to St. Francis Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The other man arrived at St. Francis by private vehicle. He is listed in critical condition, Fox 13 reported.
Cell phone videos show half a dozen police units in the parking lot of the event center where mourners were attending a funeral.
Police can be heard in a video clip telling mourners to leave the parking lot. “If you do not disperse, you may be arrested.”
According to social media posts, Mims’s death was “get back” (retaliation) for the murder of Memphis rap legend Young Dolph (Adolph Robert Thornton Jr.) in 2021. He was 36.
