Farah “Cocoa” Brown thanked Tyler Perry for a $400,000 donation after a devastating fire destroyed her Georgia home.
The comedienne/actress tells TMZ she’s filled with profound gratitude over Tyler’s support. She also thanked her friends and fans who donated nearly $70,000 to a GoFundMe to help her rebuild.
Cocoa, 51, her 12-year-old son, Phoenix, and their pets barely escaped the flames that swept through their 5-bedroom, 6-bath house in Fayetteville on Sunday.
The blaze may have started when a lit candle fell onto some clothes in a bedroom on the second floor of the house.
Brown grabbed a fire extinguisher and tried to put out the flames herself, but the fire spread quickly.
The Fayette County Department of Fire & Emergency Services abandoned their efforts to put out the blaze before the house collapsed. Only the exterior walls were left standing.
Cocoa said she’s been on an emotional roller coaster since she and her son were left homeless on Sunday.
But the comedian reiterates she and her son have been deeply moved by the outpouring of support they’ve received.
In addition to Tyler’s financial support, other stars stepped up to help, including Tiffany Haddish, Marlon Wayans, Byron Allen, Sherri Shepherd, Kym Whitley, “The Breakfast Club,” and others.
Cocoa expressed her gratitude to Pastor Mark and the entire congregation of McDonough Rd Baptist Church, who she says went above and beyond for her.
Despite the devastation of losing her home, Cocoa tells TMZ, “having each other, our fur babies, and seeing and feeling all this love has strengthened our love for each other and humanity.”
Cocoa is best known for playing Jennifer on “Tyler Perry’s For Better Or Worse” and Lytia in “Single Moms Club.”
