On Tuesday’s special edition of “Tamron Hall,” Tamron continued the “Week of Love” with actor and comedian Loni Love and her boyfriend, actor James Welsh.
The loving couple opened up about their five-year relationship, their first date and finding love later in life.
Loni and James confirmed they first met on a dating app.
“What were you looking for when you went on the app?” Tamron asked.
“Well, I was looking for someone to spend, you know, the rest of uh, I’m on the back nine, Tamron,” said James, referring to the final 9 holes in golf.
He added, “You know, I was looking for that special someone.”
But Loni was more specific and to the point: “I was looking for somebody to make love to.”
Loni’s response had Tamron and her Tam Fam audience in stitches.
Loni said they talked for over a month before going out on their first date.
“Because we met online and I tell women, when you meet online you have to be very, very protective,” Loni said.
“So we talked for like over a month and then I said, ‘Okay, well, he doesn’t sound like a stalker or anybody like that. So let’s meet publicly.’ But I wanted to do it someplace that if I didn’t like him, I could like, you know, leave and it wouldn’t be a big deal.”
Tamron continues, “Since it’s love week, I’m gonna go there. The first kiss – who made the move first?”
Loni responds, “I did of course.”
James added, “I’m a little shy, sometimes.”
Loni caught James off guard by kissing him, as Tamron and the audience laughed.
Tamron asked James what he thought when Loni went in for the first kiss.
“Well, I was very, uh, I was very happy about it,” he said.
Tamron asked the couple what brought them together and why their relationship works:
James responded, “The funny thing is, I wasn’t familiar with Loni’s work. So we got to know each other on a, you know, just like two people getting to know each other. And I was thinking, I was looking for what we had in common and I liked her. And we just got along so well.”
Loni said, “We’re very compatible. And I tell [people] that, when you’re looking for love and you’re older, look for compatibility. Okay? That’s so important. Make sure that you guys are on the same level.”
