Chris Massey wants Instagram followers to stop asking about his mom, Angel Massey, who defended Nickelodeon producer Dan Schneider.
This week the Nickelodeon exposé, “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” revealed the abuse suffered by former child stars.
Chris Massey’s momager, Angel Massey, defended Schneider and blamed the parents for what happened to their kids on the set.
Chris had a starring role on the Nickelodeon television series Zoey 101 from 2005–2008.
Angel was on the set daily, but other parents left their kids to fend for themselves.
In an Instagram post on Thursday, Angel shared an image of her son, Chris, with Schneider at the 2014 Kids’ Choice Awards.
She wrote over the image: “Dan Schneider, you are awesome. You are a genius. I can’t thank this guy enough for the opportunity he gave my son @chrismasseytmb and my family. Blame the parents not Dan.”
In a follow-up post, Angel played a voice message left by an outraged Instagram follower.
Angel said, “I posted a comment about somebody that has been nice to us, never done anything to us. And when I said it was the parents’ fault — who allows their children to get a ride with a staff member to work? Who allows their children to spend the night with staff members? That’s what I was talking about.”
She continued: “So, with all these people Instagramming me and saying all these things about me – I have really tough skin… and that don’t bother me. I don’t give a sh*t about what they talking about.”
Fans also flooded Chris’s timeline, asking him to comment on what his mother said.
In his Instagram Story, Chris asked his followers to stop messaging him about his mom.
Chris, 34, is the older brother of Kyle Massey, 32, best known as star of Disney shows Cory in the House, That’s So Raven, and more.
