Jonathan Majors will likely serve jail time after a judge denied a motion to overturn his conviction on Wednesday.
The judge rejected the motion ahead of Majors’s sentencing hearing on Monday, April 8.
Majors’ attorney Priya Chaudhry tells TMZ in a statement, “Jonathan feels disappointed by the outcome of the motion, yet he upholds respect for the process. He continues to draw strength from his friends, fans, family, and dogs, harnessing his art and creativity.”
Majors faces up to one year in prison following his conviction for assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, in March 2023.
“It just felt like he was twisting my arm and my hand and trying to make me feel pain,” Jabbari testified in court during the trial last year.
Jabbari admits she tried to grab his phone after a message popped up saying, “I wish I was kissing you.”
Majors’ current girlfriend, actress Meagan Good, may have sent the text message. The pair began dating in May 2023.
Jabbari sued Majors for defamation and pain and suffering last month.
She is seeking damages for physical injuries and “intentional infliction of emotional distress”.
