Former President Donald Trump surprised customers at a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia, on Wednesday.
Chick-fil-A, which operates 3,059 restaurants across 48 states, is headquartered in College Park, Georgia.
Trump visited a Chick-fil-A restaurant in the Vine City (the hood) area of Atlanta. He was on his way to a fundraiser, according to 11Alive News.
“Hello everybody,” Trump said, as he strolled into the restaurant with Secret Service agents. “Beautiful looking group of people,” he told a number of Black women, who responded, “Thank you!”
Trump ordered 30 milkshakes for surprised customers. “Is business good?” he asked the workers. “Yes!” the ladies answered.
“You’re making a lot of money?”
“Yes!” they responded enthusiastically.
Trump praised Chick-fil-A’s policy of closing on Sundays to worship the Lord. “It’s the Lord’s chicken,” he agreed with a reporter. “It’s good chicken!”
Polls show Mr. Trump is gaining popularity with Black voters.
A female customer seemed to reference Black people when she said, “I don’t care what the media tells you, Mr. Trump, we support you!”
Trump sparked controversy last year when he said Black people identified with him because he was arrested for election interference in Georgia.
“A lot of people said that that’s why the Black people like me because they have been hurt so badly and discriminated against, and they actually viewed me as I’m discriminated against,” he said.
