Bryan Abasolo provided text messages that prove his ex-wife Rachel Lindsay was not shocked when he filed for divorce.
In new court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the chiropractor claims the former “Bachelorette” lead, 39, wasn’t “surprised or shocked” when he filed for divorce.
Bryan, 44, provided the text messages in his latest response to her court filing.
In her response, Rachel claimed that Bryan informed her of his decision to file for divorce “via text message” in late June. She alleged that he sent her a message that “simply read, ‘Hey … I just wanted to let you know that I officially filed.'” The text was sent 30 minutes after he left their home.
Now, Bryan claims that Rachel “fails to disclose” that he sent her a text message before filing for divorce.
In one text message, Bryan complained about Rachel’s “one-sided controlling aspects of our relationship which has brought us to this point.”
“My inability to communicate, as you’ve called it, is to prevent these kinds of reactions. It often feels like you must have what you want without considering any state of mind I’m in.”
He continued, “I’m sorry for not replying to your text but honestly, I don’t really want to be on the receiving end of your wordsmithing anymore. I don’t want to be here any longer than I have to. I want to regain some aspect of my self-respect back.”
A judge recently ordered Rachel to pay Bryan $13,000 a month in temporary alimony recently. Bryan rejected her offer of $10,000 per month.
He told the judge he needed more money to move out of their shared home.
Bryan won Rachel’s heart in season 13 of “The Bachelorette” in 2017. They were married in 2020. They announced their separation earlier this year.
Rachel, an attorney in Dallas, was the first Black woman to be cast as lead on the show.
