Oprah Winfrey admits she’s at peace knowing she doesn’t have much time left. The 70-year-old media mogul added fuel to recent reports about her health.
“There is a sense of knowing that there isn’t as much time left and I am at peace with that knowing,” said Oprah during an appearance on “Today” with Al Roker on Tuesday. “There’s a sense of urgency for me about living well,” she added.
Oprah said she began to think about her health when she underwent knee surgery back in 2021.
“I had been becoming more and more debilitated to the point where it was hard to walk down even two steps just to get into the car. You know that pain,” she told Al Roker.
“When I finally went to the knee doctor and I said, ‘I don’t know, is it time?’ He goes, ‘It’s time if you want to continue walking. You like walking? It’s time.'”
Oprah said getting older is one of life’s greatest gifts. “Don’t be scared” about getting older, she told Al, who recently turned 70.
In June, Oprah’s closest friend Gayle King, 69, let it slip out that Oprah was hospitalized with vomiting and diarrhea.
“She had some kind of stomach thing — stomach flu — stuff was coming out of both ends,” King told her “CBS Mornings,” audience when Oprah failed to show up for a scheduled appearance.
“I won’t get too graphic,” Gayle added. “Needless to say, she ended up in the hospital, dehydration, had to get an IV, it was a very serious thing.”
That night, Gayle claimed she never said Oprah was “in the hospital”.
In a video, Gayle said: “She was sidelined with a stomach virus that caused such dehydration that she went to the hospital to get an IV drip. I thought I made that clear but next thing I know I’m surprised to see headlines that scream ‘Oprah’s hospitalized!’ (She was NOT!) And I’m bombarded with calls asking if Oprah is okay. The answer is yes! And now let’s go straight to the source.”
