On Friday Voepass said the manifest showed 57 passengers and four crew. But on Saturday officials confirmed another passenger had been on board the plane.
The passenger was “undocumented” and officials aren’t sure if he snuck on board the plane.
8 cancer doctors were on board the plane when it crashed. 7 others changed their flight at the last minute. The news that 8 cancer doctors were on the plane sparked conspiracy theories on X (formerly Twitter).
“They were people used to saving lives, and now they lost theirs in such tragic circumstances,” said Parana Gov. Ratinho Júnior on Friday.
Cell phone videos show the pilots desperately tried to save their plane by diving nose down to gain speed before bringing the nose back up to increase lift under the wings.
But their efforts failed and the plane crashed and burned in a gated community in the city of Vinhedo. No one on the ground was injured.
Aviation experts say the Voepass plane may have lost lift and stalled due to engine failure or ice on the wings.
A meteorologist said Friday that there were reports of severe icing in Sao Paulo state around the time of the crash.
A 3-year-old girl who was traveling with her father was the youngest passenger who died in the crash.
