A registered nurse from Portland, Oregon was found dead and her neighbor – also a registered nurse – has been charged with her murder.

Bryce Schubert, 27, was arrested and charged with the murder of Melissa Jubane, 32. Both victim and suspect were registered nurses who worked for the same hospital system but at different locations.

Jubane was reported missing after she returned to Portland from her honeymoon in Hawaii on September 1.

Jubane got married to her longtime fiance, Bryan, in Hawaii on August 24. They dated for nearly a decade before tying the knot.

Jubane was expected to return to work on Sept. 4 but her co-workers were alarmed when she didn’t show up.

Beaverton police officers went to Jubane’s apartment at Baseline 158 Apartment complex but she wasn’t there. They spoke to neighbors who said Schubert lived with his girlfriend down the hall from Jubane on the fifth floor.

On Sept. 7, police announced they found Jubane’s body but they didn’t say where.

Schubert (pictured in 2016) was arrested early Saturday morning. He is charged with second-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, and second-degree abuse of a corpse.

Police did not reveal where Jubane’s body was found, how she died, or how they linked Schubert to her murder.

Schubert is expected to be arraigned in court on Monday afternoon. He is being held without bond.
