Federal authorities say an “interagency operation” has been launched at the Brooklyn, NY detention center where music mogul Sean Combs is housed.

Combs, 54, was arrested in September and is housed in solitary confinement at the facility while awaiting trial in May 2025.

Combs has denied allegations that he physically and sexually abused men, women and minors for more than a decade.

The facility has been described as “hell on earth” and an “ongoing tragedy” for detainees being held there.

Investigators from the Bureau of Prisons, the Justice Department’s inspector general’s office and other law enforcement agencies raided the Metropolitan Detention Center, the Bureau of Prisons said in a statement to The Associated Press on Monday.

The law enforcement operation was launched amid reports of rampant violence at the jail.

via Associated Press — Last month, federal prosecutors charged nine inmates in connection with a spate of attacks from April to August at the Metropolitan Detention Center, the only federal jail in New York City. The allegations detailed serious safety and security issues at the jail, including charges after two inmates were stabbed to death and another was speared in the spine with a makeshift icepick. A correctional officer was also charged with shooting at a car during an unauthorized high-speed chase.

The operation was “designed to achieve our shared goal of maintaining a safe environment for both our employees and the incarcerated individuals housed at MDC Brooklyn,” the agency said.

The MDC in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn is notorious for its horrific conditions, violence, and multiple deaths.

In September, the music mogul’s lawyers complained about the horrors their client faced at the Brooklyn federal lockup. The legal team requested a transfer for Combs to another detention center in New York with a better reputation.

The request for a transfer was denied and Combs’s proposal for a $50 million bond was rejected by 2 different judges.
