The rapper formerly known as “Fat Joe” admits taking Ozempic to help him lose 200 pounds in 6 months.
Joe has been a diabetic since he was a teenager. Ozempic is one of the drugs he uses to control his diabetes. In addition to diet and exercise, Joe credits Ozempic with achieving his weight loss goal.
The 54-year-old Bronx rap legend says he also eliminated sugar and carbohydrates from his diet.
“We just try to eat everything with the least carbs as possible,” Joe exclusively told Us Weekly. “So we try to stay away from the bread, the pasta, the rice. That’s the smartest way to eat.”
“Ozempic says you may only have two pieces of your favorite stuff,” he explained — referring to carbohydrates.
The new and improved Joe was on display when he hosted the BET Hip Hop Awards which aired on Tuesday night. He is pictured on the red carpet with his wife, Lorena Catagena. (The couple share daughter Azariah, 18. Joe also has two sons from previous relationships.)
Joe joins other celebrities who successfully lost weight on Ozempic. The list includes Oprah Winfrey, Lizzo, Tracy Morgan, Lil Rel Howery, Kelly Osbourne, and Whoopi Goldberg.
Earlier this year, fans confused actress Jada Pinkett Smith for Joe.
“Fat Joe on Ozempic” trended on X (formerly Twitter) in January as fans confused Jada’s New Year selfie for the once portly rapper showing off his Ozempic weight loss.
Sources say the mix up inspired Joe to really work hard to lose the extra weight.
