Actress Mandy Moore and her in-laws are among the Los Angeles residents impacted by the deadly wildfires that destroyed thousands of homes recently.
Mandy took to Instagram and complained after an Amazon driver callously left a package in front of a charred house that belonged to her in-laws.
On Tuesday, the actress posted a photo that shows a brown box with the familiar Amazon label on it.
In the caption, she wrote “Do better, Amazon. Can we not have better discretion than to leave a package at a residence that no longer exists? This is my mother and father in law’s home. Smh.”
The post went viral racking up hundreds of comments – most aimed at Amazon for not better vetting their drivers.
An embarrassed Amazon rep quickly responded to the actress via DM on Instagram.
Company spokesperson Steve Kelly then issued a statement: “We’ve reached out to Ms. Moore via Instagram to apologize for this and to ask for more information from her in-laws so we’re better able investigate what happened here.”
He added, “For weeks, we’ve advised those who are delivering on our behalf in southern California to use discretion in areas that were impacted by wildfires – especially if it involves delivering to a damaged home – that clearly didn’t happen here.”
Mandy’s Altadena home was also damaged, according to TMZ. Mandy shares the home with her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, and three young children. The house is currently uninhabitable after they lost the garage, back house and TG’s studio.
