Karla Mosley, star of daytime soap opera “Beyond the Gates,” recently revealed she is “queer.”

In 2024, Karla joined the cast of Beyond the Gates as Dani Dupree. She quickly became a fan favorite on the show. But Karla is making waves in her personal life by coming out of the closet!
Recently, Karla spoke with People magazine to explain why she walked away from her role as a transgender on “The Bold and the Beautiful.”
Karla played the character Maya on The Bold and the Beautiful from 2013 to 2019. Maya came out as transgender, which Karla said she hesitated to do initially.
Karla, 43, decided to play the role of a trans so their story could be heard. She told herself, “‘If you don’t accept this story, this story won’t be told.'”
“When my boss asked me if I would do this story, I first was going to say no because it felt inappropriate for me to play that role as a cis woman. I do identify as queer, but I’m not transgender,” she said.
The mom-of-one eventually walked away from the role because she is not transgender in real life.
Transgender actors have been critical of the movie and TV industry for the lack of roles available to them.
“I am so grateful for that character because people who loved Maya and then had issues with what she said had to ask themselves like, even with a family member, ‘Well, if I loved her yesterday, why don’t I love her today?’ I actually had to grapple with that question, and I had so much feedback around healing that was able to happen within families and communities because of that storyline,” Karla explained.

Karla was previously married to NYC lawyer, Jeremiah Frei-Pearson. On August 17, 2018, she gave birth to her first child, with her friend John Rogers.
According to insiders Karla, a Virgo, is currently single, but she has enjoyed past relationships with both men and women. She keeps her personal life private.
