You’ll be happy to know that egg prices have dropped nearly $2 since President Donald Trump took office in January.

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins broke the news on Tuesday morning.

“A good piece of news we just got in the last day or two is that the average cost of a dozen eggs has now gone down a dollar and eighty-five cents,” Rollins told reporters at the White House.

Late last month, Rollins announced that the Department of Agriculture would spend $1 billion to curb the spread of the bird influenza, which has caused havoc in the poultry industry.

Trump’s critics blamed him when the price of eggs didn’t drop in the 2 months since he took office.

The Trump administration worked hard to bring the price of eggs down by taking measures such as importing 1 million eggs from foreign countries.

At a local Publix in Gwinnett County, the price of a dozen white eggs was $4.19 last week. Today it is even lower – just $3.29 for a dozen white eggs.
