Actor Jonathan Majors‘ new movie Magazine Dreams struggles to find an audience at the box office.
Magazine Dreams is the actor’s first movie since he was canceled following assault charges in 2023.
Magazine Dreams earned about $700,000 across 815 theaters, despite a positive promotional tour including a stop at Sherri Shepherd’s show that went viral.
The movie received positive reviews, with an 81% critic score and 91% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
But Black women – the movie’s main target audience – aren’t feeling Jonathan. Despite his shotgun wedding to actress Meagan Good, Black women despise him because he only dated Caucasian women until his career was on the line.

In Magazine Dreams, Jonathan plays an autistic bodybuilder named Killian Maddox who dreams of superstardom, however he is socially awkward and has anger management issues.
“Killian Maddox lives with his ailing veteran grandfather, obsessively working out between court-mandated therapy appointments and part-time shifts at a grocery store where he harbors a crush on a friendly cashier,” reads the movie’s synopsis.
“Though Killian’s struggles to read social cues and maintain control of his volatile temper amplify his sense of disconnection amid a hostile world, nothing deters him from his fiercely protected dream of bodybuilding superstardom, not even the doctors who warn that he’s causing permanent damage to his body with his quest.”
