A Texas man who ambushed and shot his 31-year-old estranged wife in front of her children is still on the run.
Stafford Police officers are searching for Jeremy Banguero, 33, who remains on the run after shooting his estranged wife in front of her 2 children on Monday, March 24.
The shooting was captured on a neighbor’s doorbell camera at The Park at Tivoli apartments on Sugar Ridge Blvd.
Police say the unidentified victim returned home with her 2 teenage children when Banguero approached her car, opened the driver’s side door and fired multiple rounds into the car.
The woman’s 14- and 16-year-old sons from a previous relationship are seen running away to find help for their mother.
One boy frantically pounded on a neighbor’s door after the shooting.
The victim was shot twice and is expected to recover.
On Wednesday, police released video of the shooting, reported local ABC affiliate KTRK.
Banguero was last seen driving a red 2023 Chevrolet Silverado with Texas license plates SSF-5049.

“Jeremy is a danger to society. He poses a danger to officers who are looking for him as well,” Stafford police officer Luciano Lopez told KTRK. “[We] urge you not to approach him.”
“He’s a heartless individual to do this in front of two children. For them to see their mother get shot, I mean, it’s heartbreaking,” said Lieutenant Lopez.
Court records reveal Banguero has been charged every year since 2022 for assaulting his wife, ABC 13 reported.
He served an 80-day jail sentence for family violence, and was released in January 2025. Police records show officers responded to a domestic violence call at the complex just two days before the shooting.
In 2009, ABC 13 Eyewitness News featured Banguero in a crime report. ABC 13 talked to a man who said Banguero, who was just 17 years old at the time, and an accomplice kidnapped him on Christmas Day.
They forced him into the trunk of his car and took him to an ATM to withdraw cash. The victim was able to call 911 for help.
Banguero was sentenced to 12 years in prison, court records show.
