Actress Marsai Martin has revealed the location of her next HBCU Cookout.
Marsai’s Sai Summer Cookout was first held in 2023 to inspire students from historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). Each year, the Sai Cookout is hosted in a new city to unite the HBCU community. The first Sai Summer Cookout was held in Atlanta, and the second took place in Washington, D.C.

“One of the biggest highlights [of summer] that I’m very excited about is Sai Summer Cookout, which is going to be in its third year this year,” Marsai told Her Campus magazine in an exclusive interview.

“It’s such a beautiful-yet-intimate and safe world that I’m very grateful that we built,” she added.
The Texas-born actress said this year’s Cookout will be held in Houston on August 31.

“I’m from Dallas, and that’s my hood. All my friends and family are still there, but this time we’ll be going to Houston and give love to TSU, Prairie View, and all the other colleges that are in the area,” she said.
In addition to good food, music and vibes, Marsai and her team will give away gift bags and resources to prepare students for the semester. “Everybody is in the same boat, and we are all trying to just get to one place, which is joy and happiness and peace,” she says.

Marsai, 20, says she has no plans to attend college in the near future. As a former child star, she has achieved much more than the average college student.
Best known for her role as Diane Johnson on the ABC sitcom Black-ish (2014–2022), Marsai also became the youngest person to produce a studio film for the comedy Little (2019).
Marsai Martin has earned 10 NAACP Image Awards and a Screen Actors Guild Award for her role on Black-ish.
