Actress Tyra Banks (left) weighed in on who should play Whitney Houston‘s role in Warner Bros. Pictures’ remake of The Bodyguard.

“I think Taylor Swift, because business and commerce, art, and she would freakin’ sell like crazy,” Tyra said on Monday’s episode of Today with Jenna & Friends.
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour director Sam Wrench is set to direct the remake, which prompted rumors that Kevin Costner, 70, will reprise his role as a romantic bodyguard, while Taylor Swift, 35, will play Whitney’s role as R&B superstar Rachel Marron.
In case Kevin Costner turns down the role, Tyra has another candidate in mind to play Taylor’s hunky love interest.
“I’m a Black girl. It was Whitney Houston as a Black girl and Kevin Costner as a White man. What if we flipped it and it was Taylor Swift and Idris Elba?” she told Today‘s Jenna Bush Hager.

Jenna agreed with Tyra that Idris would be a good substitute for Kevin. Tyra noted that Taylor and Idris, 52, playing opposite each other would be “so hot.” Imagine Idris carrying Taylor Swift in the pouring rain after saving her from a deranged stalker in the movie.

Taylor and Idris previously worked together on the disastrous 2019 movie Cats. Taylor played Bombalurina alongside Idris’ character Macavity.
But fans ripped the movie to shreds over its “creepy” portrayal of cats as people with human faces and furry bodies.
Universal pulled the movie from theaters following the public backlash.

However, Taylor’s fans, aka “Swifties”, speculate that she will play the role that Whitney made famous in The Bodyguard in 1992.
They note that Sam Wrench, who directed Taylor’s wildly successful Eras concert tour, is also directing the upcoming remake of The Bodyguard.
Swifties are anxious to hear Taylor sing Whitney’s hit songs “Run to You”, “I Will Always Love You”, and “I’m Every Woman” on the movie soundtrack.
But Whitney’s fans have a lot to say about Taylor stepping into Whitney’s shoes.
