Actress Keke Palmer is intentionally living below her means because she doesn’t want to go broke like other Hollywood celebrities.

During a recent appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast, Keke said living below her means is her top financial goal.

“I live under my means. I think it’s incredibly important,” said Keke. “If I have $1 million in my pocket, my rent is going to be $1,500 — that’s how underneath my means I’m talking. My car note is going to be $340. I don’t need a [Bentley] Bentayga, I’ll ride in a Lexus.”

The former child star said her parents taught her how to pinch pennies and stretch a dollar.

“My dad gave up his pension for me to have an opportunity for my dreams. My mom gave up everything so she could travel with me,” Keke said. “What’s mine is theirs and what’s theirs is mine … I would sacrifice 20 more years of my life working in this industry so that I can provide and we can have the business we have today.”

Keke, 31, got her first acting job at age 9 in Ice Cube’s 2004 film, “Barbershop 2: Back in Business.” By age 13, she landed her first lead role in the 2006 movie “Akeelah and the Bee.”

In February 2023, Keke welcomed a son, Leodis, with her then-boyfriend Darius Jackson. By 2024, they went their separate ways. But Keke is not hurting for money. She is not depending on him for child support.

Keke is responsible with her money and her savings will maintain her lifestyle for years if acting roles dry up.
