Podcaster Candace Owens says President Donald Trump asked her to stop saying France’s first lady Brigitte Macron is a man. Brigitte is the wife of France’s President Emmanuel Macron.

The Macrons sued Owens in Delaware for slander after she aired an 8-part series about Brigitte Macron.

Brigitte, 72, has three biological children from her first marriage.

In a new interview with Tucker Carlson, Owens claims that President Trump personally called to ask her to stop making false allegations about Brigitte,

“I was called by Trump in February,” Owens told Carlson in a podcast interview released Friday. She noted that Trump called her after Emmanuel Macron visited the White House in February.

Owens said she first heard from someone “pretty high up” at the White House who warned her to stop talking about Brigitte. Then came the call from President Trump himself.

Owens said she was shocked by the call from Trump.

“Emmanuel Macron personally flew to DC and asked Trump to ask me to shut up – to just stop speaking about his wife,” she told Carlson.

She said Trump sounded “confused” by the request.

“He sounded very confused. He said he was very confused when a leader of the leader of France took him aside during negotiations for Ukraine and Russia to inquire about whether or not he knew Candace Owens,” she said.

Owens said Trump told her, “You must be a very powerful person, Candace.” He added that Owens’ claims were upsetting Macron’s wife.

“She’s old and this is really, really impacting her,” Owens quoted Trump. “I saw her up close and she looks like a woman to me. I had dinner with her at the top of the Eiffel tower,” he told Owens.

Owens said she told Trump she would dial back her claims for a while. But she refused to make a longterm commitment to back off.
