China has developed a revolutionary new robot that is capable of giving birth to human babies. The $14,000 pregnancy robot is a game changer for women who can’t conceive children of their own.
The $14,000 price tag is cheaper than the in-vitro fertilization process in which a woman’s egg is extracted from her ovaries, fertilized with sperm and then implanted in her uterus or in a surrogate’s uterus. A surrogate can cost anywhere from $100,000 to $200,000.
China claims its robots will soon be able to carry a fetus for about 10 months before giving birth, according to Chosun Biz.
The “pregnancy robot” was developed by Dr. Zhang Qifeng, and the prototype will make its debut next year.
The news of the pregnancy robot was met with skepticism and criticism from women who worry that females are already being replaced.
As the world’s population reaches 7 billion, pregnancy robots provide a solution to the population crisis.
It isn’t clear if the robots will be available for sale in the U.S.
