The growing Cracker Barrel backlash has resulted in a loss of more than $143 million in market value and most of its restaurants sitting empty.

After 56 years, Cracker Barrel redesigned its logo by removing the older man sitting in a chair and the barrel next to him. The words “Old Country Store” are also gone.

The familiar logo has been replaced by a mustard colored background with just the words “Cracker Barrel” on it.

The rebranding didn’t stop with the logo. The old country store feel of the restaurant has been updated. The corporation slapped white paint on the walls and modernized the antique furniture.

In a new video, comedian Terrence Williams accused Cracker Barrel executives of “smoking crack.”

Country music icon Jason Aldean and his wife, Brittany, are among the outraged customers criticizing the changes.

Brittany shared a photo on Instagram that showed them sitting in a booth at a different restaurant.

She captioned the photo: “Breakfast date this morning. We should be at (Cracker Barrel) but yall be actin a fool [sic].”

A meme circulating on X/Twitter compares the logo rebranding to photos of a young Miley Cyrus and Ozempic Miley Cyrus.

Cracker Barrel’s rival restaurant chain Steak n’ Shake called the new logo “a cheap effort to gain the approval of trend seekers.”

Amid the massive backlash on social media – and the threat of bankruptcy – the company issued a statement on Monday apologizing to its longtime customers for making the unwanted changes.

“If the last few days have shown us anything, it’s how deeply people care about Cracker Barrel,” the statement read. “You’ve also shown us that we could have done a better job sharing who we are and who we’ll always be.”
