Jason House easily won the mayoral race in the south Chicago suburb of Dolton earlier this year. House unseated controversial Dolton mayor Tiffany Henyard, who was accused of treating city funds like her own personal piggy bank.

House won the election with 95% of the vote, easily defeating the troublesome Henyard.

Henyard was accused of spending over $1 million in taxpayer funds on a personal security detail of police officers.

According to WGN News, Henyard attended city meetings dressed like the fictional drug dealer Nino Brown in the 1991 movie “New Jack City.”

The village of Dolton made national headlines when a Henyard critic’s home was sprayed with bullets.

Henyard denied any knowledge of the drive-by shooting.

But now there are rumors that Mayor House isn’t any better than Henyard. Mayor House promised sweeping changes, but residents say not much has changed.

Despite decreasing the mayoral security detail, Dolton’s budget has seen increased spending.

Dolton’s budget for the 2026 fiscal year is projected to be $26.8 million compared with $24.2 million in last year’s budget.
